Job Description Summary

Teaching Assistants (TAs) for the Economics department are recommended and requested by faculty for a particular Economics course, based upon successful completion of the course, command of the subject area and strong interpersonal skills. TAs work closely with faculty and meet with their faculty member regularly to help ensure the success of the students in the class. TAs help students in a variety of ways: attending class to offer in-class support, holding office hours, leading review sessions, reviewing assignments, etc. Economics TAs may work between 2 and 4 hours per week, depending upon the needs of the professor.

Job Requirements

Teaching Assistants for the Economics department must have successfully completed the course in which they are assisting. They must have been recommended and requested by a faculty member. The student’s overall GPA must be 3.0 or higher, unless an exception has been made by the faculty member.
